Natural Halloween Crafts for Little Hands

Halloween is the perfect time to get creative with natural fibres! This spooky season, we're turning some of our favourite Fantastic Fibres into fun, hands-on classroom crafts.

Instructions

  1. Make your broomstick: Take a small bundle of flax fibre and place it at one end of your wooden stirrer or twig. Tie a thin strand of flax around it to hold the fibres in place.

  2. Add your witch: Cut out your witch template and glue her onto the broomstick. You can download a template here.

  3. To make the moon and stars: Cut out a yellow moon and stick it in the sky. Cut little triangles from yellow cardstock and arrange them into stars. Glue them around your witch.

  4. To make fluffy clouds: Gently pull apart some cotton fibre and glue it around the moon to create wispy clouds.

Instructions

  1. Create your mummy: Draw a simple person shape onto black cardstock and carefully cut it out. Download a template here.

  2. Prepare your bandages: Take a small amount of ramie fibre and gently pull it apart to make long, thin strands.

  3. Wrap your mummy: In sections, put a little glue on your mummy and wind the ramie around the arms, legs, head and body, just like ancient Egyptian bandages. Leave a little space for the eyes.

  4. Secure the bandages: Tuck the loose ends under the wrapped fibre or use a little glue to hold them in place.

  5. Add some spooky eyes: Use white chalk or a white pen to draw two little eyes peeking out between the bandages.

Instructions

  1. Create your cauldron: Cut out your cauldron template from black cardstock and glue it onto your purple background. Download it here.

  2. Make magical smoke: Take a small amount of kapok fibre and gently tease it apart with your fingers to make it light and fluffy. Glue the kapok just above the cauldron, pulling little wisps upwards to make swirling, spooky smoke.

  3. Add some twinkling stars: Cut small triangles from yellow cardstock and arrange them into stars around your cauldron.
