About Us

Fantastic Fibres is a sustainability focused school resource that introduces children to the exploration of natural fibres. It was designed and created by Evolve Regeneration Ltd, a natural fibres company based in Co. Wicklow, Ireland.

Hi, my name is Rachel Senior, co-director of Evolve Regeneration Ltd.

As a mum of two primary-aged children, former teacher and designer/illustrator for educational resource companies, I have learned a lot. One thing stood out… how differently children take in information, and how many different needs can exist in a single classroom.

Fantastic Fibres was built on the idea that natural materials belong in the classroom, and that every child, however they learn, should be able to benefit from a Fantastic Fibres sensory box. For many children, hands-on, sensory learning is where real understanding begins.

Sustainability has been an integral element from the beginning. When children learn about natural resources in a way that’s engaging and age appropriate, it doesn’t just build responsibility, it builds a sense of belonging to something greater.

So if we’re asking children to get hands-on with the world around them, the materials should be honest and natural, not plastic or synthetics that end up in landfill.

Natural materials deserve a place in the classroom, and teachers deserve a resource that makes that easy to achieve.

Hi, my name is Saul Woolfson. I am the founder and co-director of Evolve Regeneration Ltd.

I worked in my family’s furniture fillings and natural fibres business for many years before embarking on a long career as a human rights lawyer, specialising in immigration and refugee law. Now, through Fantastic Fibres, I am returning to my family roots.

After arriving to Ireland from Lithuania at the turn of the 20th century, my great grandfather, Zorach, and my grandfather, William Lewis, and in turn my father Solly, collected “clippings” and fabric offcuts from woollen mills, tailors and factories across the country. These offcuts then made their way into what was known as the “ragger” machine. As a young boy, I remember hearing the whirr of the ragger and watching with fascination as it transformed fabric offcuts into soft, bouncy wilwool flock, which would later be used to stuff mattresses. The flock in your Fantastic Fibres sensory box has gone through the exact same process, right here in Ireland.

I hope that the children using our sensory boxes can experience a sense of wonder, imagination and curiosity as I did as a child on the factory floor.

Our mission is to foster a love of learning in children, valuing a strengths-based approach that supports different ways of thinking and creating.

Learning should be engaging, tactile and sustainable. That's the philosophy behind every resource we create.
